The Chinese say when a dove flaps its wings, the wind currents shift for thousands of miles; a poetic way of saying that everything we do has a ripple effect. I truly believe that the presence of being is in giving, and just when I think the power of giving can be limited, I am reminded of the presence of an open heart that multiplies and creates a ripple effect. I believe each staff member at Heartwood has such a presence of being in the care of my mother, Pearl. They share the ripple effects of affirming spirits, smiles, compassion, and understanding, not only with my mother, but also with her family.
